Development dynamics

Pellet plant of 105 thousand tons capacity is being built as part of the second stage of “Boguchany Forest Industry Complex. Sawmill” project.

The following infrastructure was prepared for the plant:

– grid connection point, HV line 10 kV,

– water supply and fire piping connection points,

– building permit for waste treatment facilities that will provide a connection point to sewer network (sanitary and storm water),

– access roads to the territory ,

Project Goal and Tasks.

Effects of the project execution.

Creation of modern biofuel production.

Sawmill waste materials recovery.

Heighten the interest in alternative and renewable energy sources taking into account strict ecological safety requirements.

Raw wood is the main technological resource for the production of the wood fuel pellets based on the planned performance of 105 thousand tons: sawmill waste materials – chipped wood, softwood bark and sawdust.

Production Process Description.

Chipped wood and sawdust are delivered from the warehouse to bunkers where the material is dosed out according to the composition and fed to the conveyor that transfers it to the circular grading screen and magnetic drum separator. The grading screen separates outsized grades from the overall mix. After that, the milled biomass is transported to the dryer. The biomass is dried in the drying machine where the air is heated by water heat exchangers. The material is dried to the humidity of 10-12%.Centrifugal blowers direct the steam from the dryer to the atmosphere via air ducts. Dried sawdust is discharged from the drying machine by the worm conveyor and then transported by the transfer conveyor to the bunker for dry materials.Flat die presses form the material to pellets. The end product is loaded on a special conveyor that puts the pellets into the counterflow cooler.

The air flow filled with wood dust enters the aspirating channel and cyclone collector where the dust is allayed and returned to the production process. Due to the hardening of lignin, cooled pellets gain the mechanical strength required for further transportation.

Cooled pellets are bulked to the grading screen removing off-grade mass that is 5% of the initial mass of raw materials. The off-grade mass is returned to the dried sawdust warehouse through the aspirating channel. Standard pellets are loaded on the belt conveyor that scales and transfers them to the finished products warehouse.

Amandus Kahl (Germany) became the equipment supplier for the plant.

Consumers:

Market researches show strong interest in the product on the internal market as well as in China, Korea, and Europe.

Investment Amount.

1 045 mlrd. rubles.

Project delivery time – 2019.

Ecology.

The pellets are produced without any chemical additives. This ensures the ecological cleanness of the fuel. In other words, the pellets are firewood in a form that is convenient for transportation, storage, and use. The bonding material is lignin–the natural wood component that bonds the particles at a certain temperature. The pellets produce 20 times less ash then coals.
